Indian Rural Management Anand (IRMA) conducts the IRMA admission test for its flagship courses : Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM) and Fellow Program in Rural Management (FPRM). The institute has been set up by the late Verghese Kurien, the founder of Amul. Located in Anand, a humble town in Gujarat where the Amul story began, the institute was established to foster education and research in the field of rural management.

 The institute shortlists candidates for its PRM and FPRM courses through CAT/XAT scores. Shortlisted candidates are then required to give the IRMA admission test which is based on the subject, “Issues of social concern”. The 40 questions long question paper must be completed within 80 minutes. What is IRMA Exam :

  • IRMA Admission test is conducted by Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA).
  • IRMA test scores used for admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PRM) and Fellow Programme in Rural Management (FPRM).
  • In the first stage, IRMA uses CAT/XAT scores for shortlisting candidates for admission to Post Graduate Diploma for PRM and FPRM courses.
  • The shortlisted candidates are then called for IRMA written test on the subject of “Issues of Social Concern”. 
  • The total number of seats available for PRM 2017-19 session is 180.

IRMA 2018 Eligibility Criteria :-

For FPRM :

  • PGDRM from IRMA; or
  • PGDRM from IRMA with one year post-diploma work experience; or
  • Post Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or Institution with 55% marks at PG and 50% marks at graduation (college) level; or
  • Five-year professional degree (medicine, veterinary science, architecture etc.) with 60% marks and at least one year work experience; or 
  • Four-year professional degree (engineering, agricultural sciences etc.) with 60% marks and at least three years work experience;
  • Applicants having valid score of UGC JRF in relevant disciplines (management, economics, social work, sociology, psychology, commerce, etc.).
  • The eligibility requirement for applicants from SC/ST/OBC/dap (differently abled person) is 5% less than those specified above. 

For PRM:-

  • Candidate applying for PRM programme must be a graduate in any discipline from a university that is state or centrally recognized.
  • Scoring at least 50% marks is a must. This aggregate is 45% for SC/ ST/ DAP). If, in case marks are not assigned, the candidate must have scored CGPA equivalent to the previously mentioned percentages.
  • Candidates in their final year of examination are also eligible for the exam. 

IRMA Exam Application Process :

  • IRMA application forms are available in both online and offline modes
  • Offline mode – Aspirants need to obtain the application form from the IRMA campus by paying the application fee in cash
  • Online mode – Aspirants have to visit the official website and click on ‘Apply Now’ button
  • Register using your valid email id on
  • A link will be sent to your email id for setting your profile password
  • After registering successfully, you can Login to the IRMA website using your email id and login password
  • There are 7 steps in the application form including Personal, Address, Course, Education, Income Information, Documents and Declaration
  • Pay the application fee through Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking or SBI Bank Challan.
  • IRMA will waive the application fee for the candidates belonging to BPL category. 

Application fee : 

  • The application fee for IRMA 2017 for General & OBC candidates was Rs. 1200.
  • SC/ST/DAP candidates it was Rs. 600. 
  • The entire application fee for candidates belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) was waived off.
