CAT - Common Admission Test is a national level exam for entrance in IIM’s and top business schools of the country. CAT is conducted every year by Indian Institute of Management. This year it is conducted by IIM Lucknow. It is scheduled to to be held on 26th November and registrations are from 9th august 2017 till 20th September 2017. Mode of the examination is online. CAT scores are used to seek admission in various business schools of India.
What is CAT Entrance Exam:
The Common Admission Test (CAT)is a computer based test held in India. The test scores a candidate on the basis of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR). The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam and use the test for selecting students for their business administration programs. The test is conducted every year by one of the IIMs based on a policy of rotation. In August 2011, it was announced that Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) would also use the CAT scores, instead of the Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET), to select students for their management programmes starting with the 2017-19 batch.Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) on November 26, 2017.

Cat is conducted each year by IIM and this year it is scheduled to be held on 20th November 2017. The registrations of the applications are open from 9th August till 20th September 2017. Declaration of the result will be in the month January 2017. Dates are mentioned below.

Any candidate with 3 years of formal graduation from a recognized university is eligible to apply for the exam.Student must have minimum of 50% marks in their graduation (SC/ST.OBC/PWD must have minimum 45% of marks). Candidates in final year of graduation can also apply. For details refer below.
The minimum qualification required is bachelor’s degree with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD).
If the obtained marks are in the form of CGPA then it would be converted to percentage marks based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where the candidate has passed his/her bachelor degree.
Final year graduation students are also eligible to appear for the exam provided they fulfill the Bachelor’s degree cutoff and other factors within the stipulated schedule given by IIMs and other participating institutes.
The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution. In case of grades / CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/ institution.
IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website www.iimcat.ac. in. Applicants should note that the mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by IIMs.
Online registrations of CAT started from 9th August. Payment of the application can be done through credit card, debit card or netbanking. The process of application comprises of log into the website, filling to the entire application.and submitting after the payment. Registrations are closing on 20th September.
The candidates who are interested for CAT 2017 are required to apply online.
CAT 2017 Registration has been started from 9th August 2017.

CAT application are available to be filled online and payment can be done online using credit cards and debit cards. Fees for the general candidate for the application is INR 1800 and for SC/ST/OBC candidates it is INR 900. For further detail refer the table below.

Reserved category candidates(SC/ST)
As per the constitutional requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates. 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates.
Relaxation in fee is also given to the candidates from SC/ST/PWD/OBC category. For these categories there is the relaxation of 50% in the application fees. Candidates from backward category also get a relaxation of 5% in eligibility criteria. SC/ST/OBC candidates are eligible to take the exam with 45% marks in graduation.
